2018 – 2019 MATH CLOUD TIMELINE & COMPETITIONS

Diamond participates in many different math competitions throughout the year, some during the day in math classes and some as extracurricular events after school. Most of them are open to all students. Some may be offered during an WIN block this year, so stay tuned. Below is a list organized by the different competitions.

Note: Listen to announcements as the dates may change and other events may be added.

IMLEM Competitions 2018 -2019
(IMLEM is The Intermediate Mathematics League of Eastern Massachusetts)
All students at Diamond are eligible to participate in IMLEM. New Tryouts are held for each of the five IMLEM Meets and a new team of “Regulars” is selected each time. For Meet #1, anyone who tries out is invited to participate in the meet as an “Alternate” even if you don’t make the Regulars. For Meets 2 through 5, we will take ten Regulars for Varsity ten regulars for JV and at least ten Alternates. If you are chosen as a Regular, you must attend the practice held before the meet.

The best way to prepare for the tryouts is to work on the preparation packets and the old contests. For additional practice materials you can find old competition questions at www.imlem.org under “Study Materials”.  Many Diamond Mathletes have also purchased the book Hard Math for Middle School, IMLEM Edition.
