Turning Mill Pond Conservation Area in Lexington, MA

This 9.7 acre wooded property, located alongside Route 128, offers an historical glimpse at part of a 300 year old homestead and the pleasure of passing by one of Lexington's quiet, tucked-away ponds. This man-made pond was used to power a turning mill during the early 1800s, and later, ice was cut from it by a local ice company. If the ice is thick and smooth enough it is skateable. Its plentiful frog supply occasionally attracts a heron.

Access is from Grove Street, via a right of way at Tidd Circle, or from the circle at the end of North Emerson Road. The Mead Circle access is to wetlands and not a usable trail, though cross country skiers could use it in a winter with enough snow.
